Senior SharePoint Consultant (Freelance) – Remote

About the role

We are looking for a senior SharePoint consultant to lead a short‑term pilot that redesigns a client’s intranet homepage and delivers a first use case. The work is fully remote, with occasional sessions aligned to the client’s working hours, and may extend into a year‑long rollout.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build a modern communication site homepage from approved mock‑ups, using native web parts, theming and SPFx components where required.
• Scope, develop and deliver one end‑to‑end use case, ensuring it meets design fidelity, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and performance standards.
• Create a replica of the client’s site structure in our Microsoft 365 tenant, populate it with synthetic content, and package all artefacts (PnP templates.sppkg files, site scripts, theme JSON).
• Write detailed runbooks and deployment instructions that a non‑technical maintainer can follow, including rollback steps.
• Conduct paired deployment sessions, teach the client’s maintainer how to manage the solution, and provide lasting documentation.
• Provide effort estimates for future use cases, highlight reusable components, and flag risks early.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
• 5+ years of SharePoint experience, including at least 3 years with SharePoint Online and modern sites.
• Proven track record delivering SharePoint intranets or communication sites, with a portfolio to demonstrate.
• Previous consulting or contract delivery experience, preferably as the sole SharePoint specialist.
• Professional proficiency in English; additional language a plus.

Required skills

• SharePoint Online modern experiences, site designs, hub sites, navigation, themes and native web parts.
• SPFx development, including React and TypeScript, with full build‑package‑deploy workflow.
• PnP PowerShell for provisioning and repeatable deployments.
• HTML, CSS and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility implementation.
• Graph API permissions, REST APIs and authentication concepts.
• Power Automate and Power Apps awareness for low‑code alternatives.
