Software Engineer

About the role

Harmattan AI is building autonomous, scalable defense systems and seeks talented Software Engineers to contribute to a range of missions, from embedded robotics to command‑and‑control platforms. You will work in a high‑impact environment, collaborating with hardware and software teams to deliver mission‑critical solutions for allied forces.

Key responsibilities

• Develop low‑level drivers for robot sensors and actuators.
• Design and implement operating system and middleware components for autonomous robots.
• Integrate embedded algorithms such as guidance, navigation, control, and computer vision.
• Optimize performance of heavy algorithms on hardware accelerators (GPU, TPU, DSP, etc.).
• Build the backbone of command‑and‑control systems for massive data ingestion and processing.
• Create web‑based front‑ends to visualise operational theatres and support mission execution.
• Develop internal tooling to improve efficiency, enforce processes, and reduce technical debt.
• Implement production‑ready code, ensure seamless integration, and conduct rigorous code reviews.
• Test algorithms in real‑world environments and develop monitoring tools to track model performance.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (PhD is a plus).
• Strong coding and architecture skills with hands‑on experience in machine‑learning or computer‑vision projects.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
