Assistant Professor in Atmospheric Aerosol Sciences

About the role

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir, Morocco, is recruiting an Assistant Professor in Atmospheric Aerosol Sciences for its African Research Centre on Air Quality and Climate (ARC_AIR). The centre advances research in air quality, atmospheric chemistry and climate, and trains a new generation of African atmospheric scientists. The position focuses on experimental and modelling work, with research on aerosol-air quality-health-climate interactions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop independent research in atmospheric chemistry and aerosols and contribute to high-quality teaching.
• Set up and run a laboratory dedicated to atmospheric aerosol chemistry studies, in the laboratory and in the field.
• Carry out continuous investigations of atmospheric aerosols, including dust and secondary organic aerosols, and harmonise measurement and calibration procedures with other groups worldwide.
• Work with modellers at various sites to interpret data from UM6P stations and other global data sets, and collaborate with postdoctoral research associates and PhD students.
• Publish in leading journals and present at international conferences.

Required profile

• International recognition in research in one or more chemistry or physical chemistry disciplines; a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physical Chemistry or another appropriate field is preferred.
• Substantial higher education and professional experience outside Morocco.
• Expertise in atmospheric chemistry (laboratory and field).
• Proven experience in student support, mentoring and interactive teaching.
• Strong collaboration skills with researchers from diverse disciplines.
