Assistant Professor in Atmospheric Chemistry and Air Quality

About the role

The successful candidate will join the African Research Center on Air Quality and Climate (ARC_AIR) at UM6P to develop an independent research programme in tropospheric chemistry, atmospheric composition, air quality and climate. The position involves leading research activities, supervising students and contributing to teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead research on tropospheric chemistry, air quality and atmospheric composition.
• Conduct and coordinate laboratory, field, remote‑sensing and modelling activities, including operation and calibration of atmospheric measurement systems.
• Integrate and analyse multi‑instrument datasets and develop approaches for pollutant characterization, transformation and sustainable management.
• Secure external funding, manage national and international projects, and establish collaborations with academic, industrial and governmental partners.
• Supervise Master’s and Ph.D. students and contribute to research‑led teaching.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Atmospheric Chemistry, Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Atmospheric Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong expertise in atmospheric chemistry, air quality or atmospheric processes with a solid publication record.
• Experience in developing and securing competitive research funding and in supervising early‑career researchers.
• Interest in addressing air‑quality challenges in Africa and the Mediterranean region.
