Assistant Professor in Materials, Electrochemistry and Corrosion Science

About the role

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir, Morocco, is recruiting a confirmed Assistant Professor (M/F) in materials, electrochemistry and corrosion science for a permanent position within the Smart and Functional Materials Cluster of its Materials Science and Nano-engineering (MSN) department. The post suits someone with at least 5 years of research experience after a PhD, experienced in leading collaborative projects and supervising undergraduates and PhDs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and maintain research programs on electrochemical reactions, corrosion mechanisms, surface and interface phenomena, and sustainable corrosion protection.
• Combine academic and industry experience to solve industrial corrosion and materials challenges.
• Coordinate industrial collaborations and build national, African and international networks.
• Develop and deliver teaching programs in electrochemistry and materials science, including advanced master's modules, with an annual teaching load of 100 hours.
• Supervise and co-supervise PhD and Master theses, and lead interdisciplinary projects.
• Publish high-quality papers, obtain patents and transfer technology.

Required profile

• PhD in materials science, electrochemistry, corrosion science or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of research experience after the PhD; evidence of independent research capability.
• Experience supervising undergraduate, graduate and PhD students and teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
• Track record of high-impact publications and patents, and ability to attract external funding.
• Strong French and English.

Required skills

• Corrosion science, electrochemistry and materials characterisation expertise.
• Ability to design and lead original research projects and to collaborate with industry and government partners.
