Data Scientist – Forecasting Consultant

About the role

We are seeking a Data Scientist to act as a Forecasting Consultant for a UK‑based retailer. In this customer‑facing position you will support demand forecasting and replenishment activities, ensuring accurate daily forecasts and continuous improvement of forecasting models.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and deliver daily demand forecasts, monitoring the DFAI module for performance.
• Maintain forecasting configurations, parameters, and business rules.
• Analyze forecast accuracy, identify root causes of variances, and recommend corrective actions.
• Review model performance metrics and work with large retail and supply‑chain datasets to uncover insights.
• Automate data‑analysis and monitoring tasks using Python, Docker, and GitHub.
• Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and validate forecast outputs.
• Engage directly with customer stakeholders, prepare reports and dashboards, and document forecasting logic.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience in demand planning, forecasting models, and machine‑learning techniques.
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to communicate findings to non‑technical audiences.
