Databricks Data Engineer

About the role

Forterro is building a new centralised data platform in Databricks, moving away from its existing SQL Server and Azure Data Factory architecture. It is looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to help ingest, transform and structure data from across the company and build reliable pipelines supporting reporting, analytics and wider business use cases. This is not a traditional BI or reporting role.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain reliable data pipelines within Databricks.
• Use SQL and Python to ingest, transform, clean and structure data from multiple source systems.
• Integrate data from enterprise applications into Forterro's central data environment, including ERP/financial platforms and CRM applications.
• Develop data models and reusable data assets that support reporting, analytics and business decisions.
• Translate business and technical requirements into practical data engineering solutions.
• Monitor and resolve data quality issues so data remains accurate, consistent and reliable.
• Work with data engineers and colleagues across IT, reporting and analytics, following the engineering standards of the data engineering function.

Required profile

• Hands-on commercial experience with Databricks; comfort using the platform from day one.
• Practical experience building and working with data pipelines.
• Experience investigating and resolving data quality or integration issues.
• Ability to work with both technical colleagues and business stakeholders.
• A practical, organised approach to solving data problems and managing priorities.
• Desirable: experience with NetSuite or another ERP platform, Salesforce or another CRM, data reporting/analytics, and data science or machine learning. French is a bonus but not mandatory.
