Deputy Project Manager (Onshore)

About the role

As a Deputy Project Manager (Onshore) you will act as the second‑in‑command, supporting the Project Manager and consortium manager to deliver rail transportation projects on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. You will ensure continuity of leadership, maintain strong customer relations and align on‑shore activities with offshore teams.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining the project plan covering scope, schedule and cost.
• Monitor progress, milestones and deliverables, and support corrective actions when deviations occur.
• Act as backup for the Project Manager, taking over coordination, decision follow‑up and reporting as needed.
• Prepare and facilitate project meetings, ensuring proper information flow across all interfaces.
• Produce project reports (progress, risks, KPIs) and maintain documentation such as plans, action lists, minutes and deliverables.
• Track actions, follow up with responsible persons and maintain the risk register and action plans.
• Support escalation, resource planning, workload follow‑up and budget monitoring.
• Assist in contract and change management, ensuring deliverables meet contractual, technical and process requirements.
• Support reviews, audits and milestone validations, and manage customer and partner relationships.
• Prepare communications for governance bodies (Steering Committee, Project Board) and ensure alignment with overall project objectives.

Required profile

• Strong project management expertise with the ability to act as a reliable second‑in‑command.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to coordinate complex on‑shore/off‑shore interfaces.
• Ability to maintain clear documentation of decisions, actions and issues.
• Proactive attitude towards risk management, escalation and stakeholder communication.
• Structured and detail‑oriented approach to planning, reporting and governance.
