Embedded Software Engineer – Automotive ECU Testing

About the role

ALTEN Delivery Center Morocco, a subsidiary of the global engineering and technology consulting group ALTEN, is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer. The role focuses on embedded software unit testing for automotive electronic control units (ECUs), including diagnostics, validation and integration work.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain embedded software unit tests for automotive ECUs.
• Integrate software components into ECU platforms and check compatibility with hardware and vehicle network constraints.
• Perform root-cause analysis on software defects, communication issues and ECU malfunctions.
• Use diagnostic tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, UDS (ISO 14229), DoIP, OBD-II and vehicle logs to find problems.
• Flash software onto ECUs with a flashing tool.
• Develop and validate UDS diagnostic services, DTCs and fault memory strategies.
• Analyze communication traces (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet) to spot anomalies or performance issues.
• Support bench, HIL and in-vehicle integration tests.
• Ensure compliance with AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, ASPICE and cybersecurity principles.
• Create and maintain documentation (SRS, SDD, design reviews, traceability matrices).
• Work with testing teams to define validation strategies and ensure robust test coverage.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (Master's level, Bac+5) in Embedded Systems, Electronics or equivalent.
• Strong technical coordination, planning and risk management skills.
• Excellent communication skills and strong team spirit.
• Professional level of English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in embedded C/C++ and real-time systems.
• Knowledge of CAN, LIN, FlexRay and Ethernet.
• UDS (ISO 14229), ISO 15765, OBD-II and vector tools (CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape).
• Familiarity with AUTOSAR stacks (Classic or Adaptive) and ASPICE or V-Model processes.
