Embedded Software Engineer – UAV Systems

About the role

As an Embedded Software Engineer at Harmattan AI you will join a fast‑growing team building autonomous UAV systems for defense applications. You will work on the core software stack, from operating system configuration to sensor driver integration, collaborating closely with algorithmic specialists to deliver reliable, high‑performance solutions for field deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and maintain Embedded Linux or RTOS for UAV platforms.
• Contribute to the evolution of the embedded software architecture to ensure scalability and reliability.
• Develop and integrate sensor drivers and real‑time algorithms in partnership with algorithmic teams.
• Enhance telemetry subsystems and ensure robust data communication.
• Uphold coding standards and best practices across the code base.
• Assist in building in‑house development tools to accelerate the software lifecycle.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers to deliver production‑ready systems.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or related field.
• Extensive experience in embedded software development for robotics, aerospace or similar domains.
• Proven ability to work autonomously on complex technical challenges.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in C and C++.
• Experience with Python (optional).
• Hands‑on work with Embedded Linux or RTOS and multi‑threaded/multi‑process environments.
• Sensor driver development and data‑sheet interpretation.
• Debugging using software debuggers, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Familiarity with build systems and version control (Git).
• Deep understanding of firmware architecture and low‑level programming.
