Fiber Network Planner – Damascus Based

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Fiber Network Planner to join our team in Damascus, Syria. The role focuses on planning and optimizing DWDM and optical transport network capacity, ensuring robust, implementation‑ready designs for backbone, metro, and inter‑site connectivity.

Key responsibilities

• Develop DWDM/optical transport plans based on traffic demand, service requirements, and IP/MPLS needs.
• Design and validate optical paths, protection schemes, diversity, regeneration, and power‑budget constraints.
• Manage wavelength allocation, trail/path records, equipment/card requirements, and migration plans.
• Review existing transport inventory, fibre routes, and utilisation data to identify capacity risks.
• Coordinate with fibre planners, IP/MPLS planners, operations, vendors, and implementation teams.
• Ensure documentation follows vendor engineering guidelines, standards, and naming conventions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Telecom or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in DWDM/OTN/optical transport planning or engineering.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.
• Relevant vendor certifications and ITIL Foundation preferred.

• Wavelength planning, ITU‑T grids, Flex Grid, Super Channels
• ROADM/OADM design, including CDC‑F ROADM
• Transponder and muxponder capacity management
• Multilayer protection (OLP, ASON, G.8032/ERPS)
• SyncE and IEEE 1588v2 (PTP) synchronization
• Power‑budget and optical‑impairment analysis
• Network inventory, NMS/EMS systems, and vendor equipment knowledge
