Field Deployment Engineer (Hardware & Software)

About the role

As a Field Deployment Engineer you will own the end‑to‑end deployment, installation, commissioning and sustainment of Harmattan AI’s autonomous defence systems at client sites. You will work on both hardware and software, conduct site surveys, and train client teams to operate the systems autonomously.

Key responsibilities

• Assess customer sites, identify prerequisites, constraints and installation requirements.
• Install, assemble, connect and bring up physical components and equipment on‑site.
• Configure, parameterise and validate system software in operational contexts, primarily on Linux.
• Commission the full system, verify end‑to‑end functionality across hardware and software.
• Support integration with client operational environments alongside integration engineers.
• Conduct on‑site testing, acceptance activities and obtain client sign‑off.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software and networking issues, feeding recurring findings back to engineering.
• Provide training, coaching and documentation to client operators and maintainers.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of hands‑on field or technical experience in operations, systems integration, testing or manufacturing.
• Proven ability to deploy both hardware and software, including assembly, electrical hookup and software configuration.
• Electromechanical aptitude with the ability to read technical diagrams and schematics.
• Fundamental networking knowledge for connectivity setup and diagnostics.
• Comfortable working on Linux in operational settings.
• Strong field temperament: autonomous, safety‑critical mindset and willingness to travel extensively.
