Field Service Lead – Senior Maintenance Manager

About the role

As the Field Service Lead you will head the team responsible for keeping complex defence systems operational across multiple customer sites. You will own the maintenance programme, ensure readiness of the deployed estate, and act as the senior escalation point for advanced faults.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, schedule and mentor a team of Field Service Specialists across multiple locations.
• Own preventive and corrective maintenance programmes and ensure systems remain operationally ready.
• Define and maintain maintenance standards, procedures and checklists, driving continuous improvement.
• Serve as senior escalation point for complex fault diagnosis and oversee depot‑level and sub‑assembly repairs.
• Manage spare‑parts and sustainment model, including availability, consumption tracking and obsolescence.
• Track and report system availability and maintenance status, proactively resolving issues.
• Enable customer maintenance teams through knowledge transfer and support.
• Bridge field maintenance and engineering for recurring or systemic issues.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on maintenance experience on complex electromechanical and/or electronic systems.
• Proven leadership of field service or maintenance teams in austere, safety‑critical environments.
• Advanced diagnostic expertise capable of leading complex fault investigations and component‑level repairs.
• Strong grasp of maintenance management, including preventive programmes, spares, sustainment and readiness tracking.
• Comfortable with hardware servicing and system‑software operations such as diagnostics, configuration checks and updates.
• Willingness to travel regularly across customer sites; field mobility is core to the role.
• Eligibility for required security clearance and ability to meet confidentiality obligations.
