Functional Safety Engineer – Automotive Steering Systems

About the role
Scalian is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to lead the complete safety lifecycle for automotive steering systems. You will work in a multinational environment, ensuring compliance with ISO 26262 and ASIL‑D standards while collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, maintain, and track safety activities and work products throughout the project.
- Create item definitions, HARA, safety concepts, and safety cases.
- Perform FMEDA, FTA, DFA, and FMEA analyses, as well as software hazard assessments.
- Maintain requirements traceability across system, hardware, and software components.
- Prepare reviews, assessments, and release recommendations.
- Evaluate change requests, deviations, and problem reports.
- Coordinate with suppliers and ensure audit‑ready documentation.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive functional safety.
- Experience with steering systems or other safety‑critical automotive domains.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 processes, work products, and compliance activities.
- Professional proficiency in English; German is a strong asset.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi‑disciplinary, international environment.
