Global Policy and Advocacy Advisor

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a Global Policy and Advocacy Advisor to join its high‑profile, externally facing team. The role will support the organisation’s global influencing agenda, shaping policy and advocacy across development, humanitarian and other strategic issues. You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners such as the UN, Gulf and African Union to ensure a unified and coherent voice.

Key responsibilities

• Support global policy development by drafting policy papers, briefing notes, position papers, executive briefings and other advocacy products.
• Assist in designing and implementing strategic influencing plans for priority global issues, identifying evidence‑based opportunities for engagement with governments, multilateral institutions and coalitions.
• Conduct policy analysis, stakeholder and power mapping, and coordinate advocacy activities across the organisation.
• Provide governance and coordination support to global advocacy governance groups, working closely with communications, monitoring & evaluation and other support functions.
• Ensure policy coherence and alignment of advocacy priorities across the movement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in policy development, advocacy or strategic influencing within an international or humanitarian context.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to produce high‑quality written policy products.
• Familiarity with UN systems, multilateral institutions and regional bodies such as the Gulf Cooperation Council and African Union.
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken) and the right to work in the country of assignment.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 10% of the time.
