About the role
The Group Legal Counsel role sits within Ericsson's Group Function Legal Affairs and Compliance organization, reporting to the Head of Legal for West and Southern Africa and MMEA Corporate Affairs. You will work with a global network of legal professionals and subject‑matter experts to support business operations and innovation initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted legal advisor to senior business leaders, providing strategic guidance aligned with commercial objectives and responsible business practices.
- Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including customer contracts, supplier agreements and strategic partnership arrangements.
- Provide legal advice on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, competition law, data protection and intellectual property matters.
- Support high‑value transactions and strategic initiatives, identifying and mitigating legal risks while enabling business growth.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams such as sales, sourcing, engineering and product development to support commercial and technology projects.
- Monitor and advise on legal and regulatory developments affecting the telecommunications and technology sectors.
- Offer guidance on sanctions, trade compliance and international regulatory frameworks.
- Assist in managing disputes, investigations and litigation matters as needed.
- Deliver legal training and guidance to business teams to raise awareness of legal and compliance requirements.
- Contribute to the development of legal policies, processes and frameworks that support Ericsson’s global legal strategy.
Required profile
- Master of Law (LL.M., JD or equivalent) and qualification to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction.
- 7‑10+ years of legal experience, preferably in a multinational corporation or leading law firm.
- Strong expertise in commercial contracts, regulatory matters and corporate governance.
- Experience in telecommunications, technology, software or digital infrastructure sectors is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills with senior stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking, ability to manage complex legal matters independently and strong project‑management capabilities.
- Fluency in French and Arabic; proficiency in English.
- Willingness to travel as required.
