Head of Lean

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Lean to lead the deployment and maturity of Lean across APM Terminals Tangier TM2. Reporting to the Managing Director and COO, you will embed Lean thinking into daily operations and drive measurable improvements in productivity, cost efficiency and business performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the end‑to‑end Lean transformation strategy aligned with terminal and regional priorities (safety, performance, capacity, growth, customer centricity, cost).
• Translate strategic objectives into Lean initiatives, road‑maps and ensure full deployment and sustainability of the APMT Business System/Operating System.
• Coach and influence senior leadership, fostering behavioral change and a high‑performance continuous improvement culture.
• Lead implementation of process standardisation, daily visual management, Kaizen, A3 problem solving and value‑stream mapping.
• Drive replication of best practices across the terminal and oversee the Lean Academy, structured training programmes and TWI implementation (Job Instruction, Work Instruction, Job Relations).
• Build Lean capabilities across all functions, develop independent problem‑solvers and provide clear reporting on Lean deployment progress.

Required profile

• Strong industrial engineering or related engineering background with proven experience in Lean, continuous improvement or operational excellence.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large‑scale transformation projects in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.
• Excellent leadership and coaching skills, capable of influencing senior management.
• Business acumen with a focus on safety, performance and cost efficiency.

Required skills

• Lean tools and methodologies (Kaizen, A3, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Visual Management).
• Experience with Training Within Industry (TWI) programmes.
• Project management and change management capabilities.
