Hospital Pharmacist - International Mobile Position

About the role

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is recruiting a dedicated and qualified Pharmacist to join its international pool of professionals, with possible deployment to field projects. This is a full-time, international mobile position on a fixed-term contract for each assignment, based in one of MSF's missions around the world. Candidates must be able to work with limited resources and in challenging conditions, and a minimum availability of 6 to 9 months is required.

Key responsibilities

• Define, coordinate and monitor all pharmacy activities in the project area, including staff management, in line with MSF protocols and the mission's pharmacist and Medical Coordinator's guidelines.
• Contribute to defining and updating the annual plan and budget for pharmacy activities.
• Supervise central and peripheral pharmacies, including pharmacovigilance when needed.
• Oversee storage, stock management, supply processes and hygiene and security procedures, including pest and rodent control.
• Support ordering and supply of medicines and medical devices, monitor stock to prevent expiries, overstocks and stockouts, and report on medicine consumption.
• Work with the logistics manager on cold chain and storage conditions, and classify medicines according to MSF protocols.
• Collect data on medicine use and support drug distribution, prescription quality, rational drug use, medication reconciliation, antibiotic stewardship, pharmaceutical care follow-up, patient counselling and safe dispensing.
• Supervise, coach, motivate and evaluate pharmacy staff, identify training needs, and complete reporting tasks such as monthly SitReps and medical statistics.
• Plan and supervise HR processes for pharmacy staff, including recruitment, induction, training and evaluations.

Required profile

• A recognized diploma in Pharmacy.
• 3 to 4 years of professional experience as an Accredited Pharmacist.
• Proven experience in team management.
• Fluency in Arabic, French and English.
• Willingness and ability to work internationally and adapt to humanitarian contexts.
• Desirable: previous experience with MSF or other NGOs in developing countries.
