HSE Manager – Health, Safety & Environment

About the role

The HSE Manager is responsible for the health, safety and environment performance of the site, ensuring protection of people and operational safety in line with AkzoNobel Group policies, applicable legislation and recognised standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy and implement the AkzoNobel Group HSE policy locally.
• Define local HSE objectives, budget and annual plan and ensure their execution.
• Maintain and develop the HSE management system (manuals, procedures, documents) according to ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and Group directives.
• Drive HSE culture, continuous improvement and compliance across the site.
• Lead incident/accident investigations, process hazard analyses, pre‑startup reviews, Management of Change and Process Safety Management audits.
• Monitor changes in local HSE regulations and ensure legal compliance.
• Maintain HSE dashboards, analyse performance indicators and report results.
• Build and sustain a network of internal and external HSE experts and represent the organisation in external HSE associations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing health, safety and environmental programmes in an industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and related Group directives.
• Ability to lead teams, coach talent and promote a proactive HSE culture.
• Experience in incident investigation, risk assessment and continuous improvement processes.
