HSE Manager – Port Terminal Operations

About the role

Based at APM Terminals MedPort Tangier (TM2), the HSE Manager will lead health, safety and environmental initiatives within a complex container‑terminal environment. You will work closely with operational leaders, senior management, contractors and regional HSSE colleagues to ensure safe, reliable and environmentally responsible operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the HSE team, setting clear objectives and performance expectations.
• Translate corporate and regional HSSE requirements into a site‑specific HSE strategy, annual plan and improvement roadmap.
• Own the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the site HSE management system, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and APM Terminals standards.
• Identify material HSE risks, define critical controls and verify their effectiveness across operations, projects and contractor activities.
• Ensure incidents, near‑misses and high‑potential events are reported, investigated and turned into sustainable organisational learning.
• Develop and execute a risk‑based programme of audits, inspections and management reviews, providing transparent assurance to senior management.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, environmental management or a comparable discipline.
• Recognised HSE qualification such as NEBOSH or equivalent.
• At least seven years of relevant HSE experience in a complex industrial, logistics, port or terminal environment, including senior‑level responsibility.
• Proven experience leading cross‑functional improvement initiatives and strong knowledge of HSE management systems, legal compliance and incident investigation.
• Excellent communication, influencing and analytical skills, with the ability to work professionally in English (French and Arabic are a plus).
