About the role
The Laboratory & Diagnostic Officer will support laboratory systems strengthening and diagnostic activities under the STRIDES Morocco Activity. Working under the Senior Laboratory and Diagnostic Officer, the role involves technical assistance, documentation, and capacity‑building for the national laboratory system.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical support for laboratory systems strengthening aligned with Morocco’s national health priorities and the STRIDES workplan.
- Prepare documentation, logistics and follow‑up materials for meetings with the Ministry of Health and other government counterparts.
- Develop and disseminate laboratory tools, guidelines, training materials and standard operating procedures.
- Monitor and maintain project protocols, instruments, data sets, manuals and reports related to laboratory systems and diagnostics.
- Conduct literature searches on evolving issues in laboratory systems, diagnostics and global health security.
- Contribute to lessons learned, knowledge products, innovations and best practices.
- Ensure laboratory activities are implemented according to SOPs and project quality standards, providing QC/QA support.
- Assist in workplan preparation, finalisation and tracking of activity progress.
- Participate in client and funder meetings and prepare related reports and presentations.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for technical trainings, workshops, field visits and other laboratory‑related activities.
- Gather data and statistics for reports, presentations and technical papers, and support data review processes.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Laboratory Sciences, Public Health, Biomedical Sciences or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in laboratory systems, diagnostics or a related technical area.
- Experience in NGOs, government agencies or private organisations preferred.
- Familiarity with Morocco’s public health system and national laboratory landscape.
- Professional proficiency in Arabic, French and English (written and verbal).
- Ability to work in an office environment and handle repetitive computer tasks.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience using database management software.
- Ability to conduct online literature searches.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality standards such as ISO 15189 and SLIPTA.
