Legal & Compliance Head – North West Africa

About the role

The Senior Lawyer will support Bureau Veritas’s North West Africa operations, working closely with the Legal Manager to manage contracts, compliance matters and legal risks while building expertise in regional regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support and contract management for various product lines, including drafting, reviewing and analysing agreements, and assisting with M&A and joint‑venture transactions.
• Assist with litigation, coordinate external counsel, manage insurance matters with the Group Risk and Insurance Department, and support debt‑collection activities under supervision.
• Support compliance initiatives, maintain records, coordinate with group compliance teams, investigate allegations of fraud, bribery or policy breaches, and deliver training on the BV Code of Ethics.
• Ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations such as privacy, international sanctions and export‑control requirements.

Required profile

• Law degree with admission to practice in one or more North/West Africa jurisdictions.
• 5‑10 years of engineering and construction legal experience, preferably within the region.
• Fluent in French and English.

Required skills

• Strong contract drafting and review skills, including familiarity with FIDIC contracts.
• Knowledge of corporate and commercial law in North and West African countries.
• Understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements.
