Material Planner – Automotive Manufacturing

About the role

The Material Planner will develop and execute short‑ and long‑term material supply plans for raw materials, components and consumables in a high‑volume automotive manufacturing environment. Reporting to the General Manager, the role works closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Logistics, Finance and European Purchasing teams to ensure material availability and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain short‑ and long‑term material supply plans while optimizing inventory levels.
• Analyze demand forecasts, inventory, production capacity and supplier constraints to create balanced supply plans.
• Coordinate material requirements with production schedules to meet customer demand and operational priorities.
• Monitor inventory performance, implement corrective actions to reduce shortages, excess stock and obsolescence.
• Anticipate supply‑chain disruptions and devise mitigation and contingency plans.
• Report key planning KPIs such as inventory turns, service levels, forecast accuracy and supply adherence.
• Support the S&OP process with supply‑planning analysis, visibility and recommendations.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives across material planning, inventory management and overall supply‑chain performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Procurement, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a multinational manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience in the automotive industry, preferably Tier 1, is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in material planning, supply planning, inventory management, supplier coordination and ERP systems.
• Experience with aluminum extrusion, metal forming or tube manufacturing is a plus.
