Mechanical AIT Intern – Satellite Propulsion Design

About the role

Agena Space is looking for a Mechanical AIT Intern to design and integrate key components of its satellite propulsion system. You will ensure that parts such as propellant tanks and electronic housings fit together perfectly while minimizing weight and volume.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate complex mechanical systems for satellite propulsion.
• Perform material trade‑offs, create detailed CAD models, and run Finite Element Analysis to verify structural and thermal performance.
• Optimize topology to improve performance and reduce mass, and prototype designs iteratively with team feedback.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in mechanical design and integration for complex, high‑precision systems.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work autonomously in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• SolidWorks or NX CAD tools.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
• Topology optimization and lightweight structure design.
• Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) concepts.
• Functional dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Knowledge of aerospace‑grade materials such as aluminum alloys, honeycomb structures, composites, and ceramics.
