Network Support Engineer

About the role

The Network Support Engineer provides on‑site, hands‑and‑feet assistance to enable remote troubleshooting of enterprise network equipment. You will work closely with a Remote Support Team, following detailed runbooks to verify hardware status, perform basic configurations, and ensure proper rack and cable installations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide physical onsite support such as opening racks, locating devices/ports, power cycling, and visual verification of LEDs, link status, alarms, and fan/power conditions.
• Perform rack‑mounting and unmounting of switches, routers, firewalls and dress cabling to professional standards as instructed.
• Connect to console ports, grant remote access sessions, and execute approved command steps for baseline configuration (e.g., set management IP/VLAN).
• Coordinate with the Remote Support Team for post‑installation verification and documentation of findings.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT, Network Engineering or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
• Ability to follow technical instructions accurately, work independently at customer sites, and travel as needed.
• Working at Heights Training Certificate and Medical Fitness Certificate.

Required skills

• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, HPE/Aruba, Fortinet or Palo Alto network devices.
• Proficiency with console cables (RJ45‑to‑USB, USB‑C, mini‑USB) and terminal software such as PuTTY.
• Knowledge of structured cabling, patch panels, and basic network concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, switches, routers, firewalls).
• Ability to perform rack & stack operations, cable reseating, and basic hardware troubleshooting.
