Plant Chemist

About the role

The Plant Chemist will supervise daily laboratory activities, ensuring all analyses, testing, inspections and calibrations are performed according to NOMAC’s quality, health, safety and environmental standards. The role supports optimal chemical conditions for plant operations and long‑term asset integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise chemists, monitor performance against budgets and take corrective actions to close gaps.
• Define and maintain operating chemistry parameters to maximise yield while complying with quality guidelines.
• Oversee sample testing, ensure timely and accurate results, and review procedural adherence.
• Maintain laboratory equipment reliability, schedule preventive maintenance and ensure safety and housekeeping standards.
• Manage chemical inventory, dosing and testing equipment to guarantee uninterrupted laboratory services.
• Administer SAP processes for planning, scheduling, data management and work order creation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
• 3‑5 years of laboratory experience in a power or water‑desalination plant.
• Certified environmental and safety qualification with strong knowledge of regulatory requirements.
• Proven people‑management, coaching and mentoring abilities.
