Post-Doc in Development of Multifunctional Hydrogels for Agriculture

About the role

The Sustainable Materials Research Center (SusMat‑RC) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University invites applications for a Post‑Doctoral Fellow to join a collaborative project with MIT. Under the supervision of Prof. Youssef Habibi, the fellow will develop multifunctional bio‑sourced hydrogels for agricultural applications, converting locally abundant biomass into high‑value components that can be combined with fertilizers or bio‑based additives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, synthesize, and characterize bio‑sourced hydrogels for use in agriculture.
• Convert locally sourced biomass into functional components and integrate them with fertilizers or additives.
• Conduct rigorous laboratory testing to evaluate performance, stability, and efficacy of the hydrogel systems.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of chemists, material scientists, and agronomists.
• Travel to the United States for short‑term assignments to coordinate with MIT partners.

Required profile

• Ph.D. degree in Physical Chemistry or a closely related field.
• Strong research background in polymer or hydrogel science.
• Experience with biomass conversion and material characterization.
