Post-Doctoral Fellow – Recycling Plastic Waste

About the role

We are seeking two highly motivated Post‑Doctoral Fellows to join the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SusMat‑RC) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in a collaborative project with MIT. Under the supervision of Prof. Youssef Habibi, the fellows will develop innovative, sustainable physical or chemical pathways for recycling plastic waste.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct hands‑on polymer processing, recycling, and material characterization.
• Design, execute, and analyse experiments using analytical, spectroscopic and microscopic techniques.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of chemists, polymer specialists and engineers.
• Maintain detailed experimental records and draft technical reports, research papers and conference presentations.
• Contribute to grant proposal writing and project development.

Required profile

• PhD in polymer science, chemical engineering, materials science or a closely related field.
• Strong motivation for research in sustainable materials and circular economy.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent scientific writing and communication skills.
