Postdoctoral Researcher in Plant Ecology and Soil-Plant Interactions in Vegetated Photovoltaics

About the role

UM6P is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join a 12-month renewable project evaluating the integration of native vegetation beneath photovoltaic installations in semi-arid post-mine environments. The project aims to stabilise soil, reduce dust and create a favourable microclimate that improves the energy performance of solar panels. The position develops applied research skills in a field with significant environmental impact.

Key responsibilities

• Select and characterise native and local plant species (grasses, legumes, pollinator-friendly plants).
• Run germination, growth and adaptation trials under semi-arid conditions.
• Carry out field trials on pilot sites.
• Analyse the effect of vegetation on microclimate.
• Contribute to the analysis of soil-plant interactions (composition, moisture, microbiology).
• Publish, report and communicate results.
• Follow health, safety and environmental protection regulations according to UM6P standards.

Required profile

• PhD in plant ecology, environmental sciences or a related field.
• Experience in phytomanagement, plant ecology and biology, and revegetation of degraded sites.
• Knowledge of Moroccan or Mediterranean native plants.
• Strong teamwork, written and oral communication in English and French.

Required skills

• Plant propagation and development; biodiversity monitoring and plant growth tracking.
• Field experimentation and ecological data collection and analysis.
• Laboratory equipment and techniques.
• Preferred: previous postdoctoral experience, R and multivariate statistics, GIS, scientific writing.
