Postdoctoral Researcher – Isotope-Enabled Ecohydrological Modeling

About the role

The IsoTrace team at the Centre for Research on Sustainable Agriculture (CRSA) of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to lead cutting‑edge work on isotope‑enabled ecohydrological modelling. The position is based in Benguerir, Morocco and focuses on understanding water‑soil‑plant‑atmosphere interactions in the context of climate change and water security.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and calibrate isotopic tracers to identify water sources and transport pathways.
• Integrate isotopic measurements with ecohydrological models to evaluate the resilience of Moroccan water systems under changing environmental conditions.
• Supervise and mentor PhD students involved in related modelling projects.
• Perform laboratory analyses and conduct field campaigns for data acquisition.
• Collaborate with researchers from the College of Agriculture, IWRI, CRSA and external stakeholders to translate findings into practical water‑management recommendations.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in isotope‑based ecohydrological research.
• Experience with field sampling, laboratory isotope analysis and model integration.
• Ability to work independently and guide junior researchers.
