Procurement and Infrastructure Purchaser

About the role

The Human Resources & Administration department is seeking a full‑time Purchaser to manage complex procurement activities for commodities, services, and equipment. The role supports internal and external applicants and reports to the Head of Purchasing Unit or Director of Procurement and Infrastructure Development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with procurements using cost‑effective methods in line with laws, policies and guidelines.
• Receive, track and distribute vendor responses; evaluate bids and negotiate specifications, prices and delivery terms.
• Process requisitions and purchase orders in automated systems (e.g., Sage, SAP), ensuring completeness and compliance.
• Research vendors, maintain documentation, and monitor legal/regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and distribute procurement documents, review bids, and generate procurement minutes and reports.
• Coordinate internal orders, follow up on deliveries, and update saving tables to meet institutional targets.
• Identify and qualify new vendors, maintain accurate purchase records, and support stakeholders on procurement‑related issues.

Required profile

• Permanent full‑time staff position open to internal and external candidates.
• Internal applicants must obtain prior written approval from the Dean/Director or Head of Department.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to work collaboratively with management, requesters, and other purchasing staff.
