Project Economics Controller

About the role

The Project Economics Controller (PEC) is responsible for managing project expenses and supporting the achievement of financial targets. Reporting hierarchically to VEMO/RD3C and operationally to the Project Economics Manager, the PEC works across engineering, purchasing and planning functions to ensure cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and monitor the status of project expenses, including make/buy investments, launch costs and supplier ED&D.
• Synthesize global project expenses by integrating FTE data and validation metrics provided by the Planning Manager.
• Retrieve and maintain cost data from CTPC/PCP costbook coordinators and produce multi‑year expense views with required splits.
• Ensure data source quality, consistency and accuracy for expense synthesis.
• Build and update a Risks and Opportunities portfolio for expenses in collaboration with the PEM.
• Lead action plans to align actual spending with assigned targets and propose expense targets to stakeholders.
• Manage the annual project budget, produce monthly forecasts and monitor actual versus budgeted spend.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, Engineering and other stakeholders to meet forecasted expenses.
• Validate expense workflows for R&D and investments, and prepare the project for mass production hand‑over.
• Compile a closed list of remaining expenses at project end, transfer budgets to the serial‑life team and deliver lessons learned.

Required profile

• Accountable for managing project expenses and achieving assigned financial targets.
• Reports to VEMO/RD3C and works under the operational authority of the Project Economics Manager.
• Collaborates with Product Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing, Brands and Purchasing teams.
