Project Economics Controller – Project Finance Management

About the role

The Project Economics Controller (PEC) reports to the VEMO/RD3C hierarchy and works closely with the Project Economics Manager. The PEC is accountable for monitoring and managing all project‑related expenses, ensuring data quality, and supporting the achievement of financial targets across ALTEN’s automotive, railway, R&D and IT projects in Morocco.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain the current status of project expenses, including make/buy investments, launch costs and supplier ED&D.
• Gather and validate cost data from the CTPC/PCP costbook coordinator and produce multi‑year expense views with required splits (annual, by project, region).
• Guarantee source, quality and consistency of expense data used for synthesis and reporting.
• Build and update a Risks and Opportunities portfolio for expenses and lead corrective action plans to meet assigned targets.
• Contribute to the definition of robust expense targets during the project convergence phase in collaboration with Product Planning.
• Manage the annual project budget, monitor actual versus budgeted spend, and produce monthly and yearly forecasts including indirect costs.
• Coordinate action plans with Purchasing, Engineering and other stakeholders to align forecasts with reality.
• Control and validate expense workflows for R&D and investment activities, and prepare the project for mass‑production hand‑over.
• Compile a closed list of remaining expenses at project end, transfer the residual budget to the serial‑life team, and document lessons learned.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project expense management, budgeting and financial forecasting.
• Strong analytical abilities with a focus on data quality and consistency.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with Product Planning, Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing teams.
• Experience in risk identification and mitigation related to project costs.
• Familiarity with multi‑year expense planning and costbook coordination.
