Project Economics Controller – Project Finance Management

About the role

The Project Economics Controller (PEC) is responsible for managing project expenses and ensuring financial targets are met. Reporting to the VEMO/RD3C hierarchy and operationally to the Project Economics Manager, the PEC works across engineering, purchasing and product planning to drive cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and monitor the status of project expenses, including make/buy investments and supplier costs.
• Synthesize global expense data, integrate FTE and validation inputs, and produce multi‑year expense views.
• Ensure data source quality, consistency and accuracy for expense reporting.
• Build and maintain a Risks and Opportunities portfolio for expenses and lead corrective action plans.
• Define robust expense targets in collaboration with product planning and propose targets to engineering and sourcing teams.
• Manage the annual project budget, produce monthly forecasts and compare actual spend against budget.
• Coordinate action plans with purchasing and engineering to align forecasts.
• Control and validate expense workflows for R&D and investments.
• Prepare the project for mass production, compile remaining expenses, and hand over budgets to the serial‑life team.
• Deliver final expense status and lessons learned at project completion.

Required profile

• Experience in project cost control, budgeting and financial analysis.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to data quality.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams (product planning, engineering, purchasing, manufacturing).
• Proactive attitude in identifying risks, opportunities and implementing action plans.
