Purchasing Manager

About the role

COBCO is building a large‑scale battery materials ecosystem in Morocco and seeks a Strategic Purchasing Manager to lead and transform procurement operations at its Jorf Lasfar site. The role focuses on creating a high‑performing procurement organization, developing regional supplier ecosystems, and delivering cost efficiency and risk control in a fast‑growing industrial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and expand the local procurement team, establishing standardized processes and a performance‑driven culture.
• Act as the primary interface between top management and local operations, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy.
• Identify, develop and manage strategic suppliers across Morocco and Europe, building a diversified, competitive supplier base.
• Strengthen local sourcing capabilities to reduce import dependency and establish long‑term partnerships with industrial suppliers and service providers.
• Define and implement regional sourcing strategies, driving cost optimisation, lead‑time reduction and supplier performance improvement.
• Monitor market trends, provide data‑driven insights and ensure procurement contributes directly to operational and financial performance.
• Guarantee compliance with local regulations and procurement policies, mitigating risks related to pricing, delivery and contracts.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Maintenance, Finance and Quality teams to support operational continuity and industrial ramp‑up.

Required profile

• Master’s or Engineering degree in Procurement, Supply Chain or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of procurement experience, with at least 4 years in a management or leadership role.
• Proven track record in strategic sourcing and team management within industrial environments (chemical, automotive or heavy industry is a plus).
• Experience developing suppliers in Morocco and Europe, with strong expertise in MRO, spare parts and industrial procurement.
