Remote Cloud Engineer – 5 to 10 years experience

About the role

AFRICASHORE is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to join its remote team. You will design, implement and manage secure, scalable cloud environments for a variety of client workloads, primarily on AWS.

Key responsibilities

• Implement IAM policies and configure VPCs to ensure secure networking.
• Develop and manage AWS migration and development programs.
• Write Python data‑integration scripts that connect upstream and downstream systems.
• Build, deploy and operate production workloads on EC2, Lambda, API Gateway and related services.
• Analyse workload requirements and size cloud resources appropriately.
• Provide application and functional support, troubleshoot issues and suggest improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Cloud Computing or a related field.
• 5+ years of IT experience delivering enterprise applications.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on experience as a Cloud Engineer focused on AWS services.
• Proven expertise in infrastructure‑as‑code tools (CloudFormation, ARM, Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Basic knowledge of cloud networking concepts such as BGP, routing and REST APIs.
• Experience designing high‑availability solutions across regions and availability zones.
