Resident Coordinator – Morocco

About the role

The United Nations is seeking a Resident Coordinator to lead its development system in Morocco. Reporting directly to the Secretary‑General, the Resident Coordinator serves as the highest‑ranking UN development representative in the country, overseeing the UN Country Team and ensuring alignment with the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and the 2030 Agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all UN development activities at the country level, including the UN Country Team and Resident Coordinator’s Office.
• Ensure system‑wide accountability for the implementation of the UN Cooperation Framework and the Sustainable Development Goals.
• Report annually to the host Government on the performance of the UN Cooperation Framework.
• Represent the UN development system in high‑level meetings with national authorities, development partners and civil society.
• Facilitate the integration of UN assets to support peace‑building and poverty eradication initiatives.

Required profile

• Demonstrated appreciation of the breadth of UN assets and their role in sustaining peace.
• Experience in senior‑level coordination or leadership within an international development context.
• Ability to work within a matrixed dual‑reporting model and engage with multiple UN entities.
• Strong understanding of the 2030 Agenda, Sustainable Development Goals and related UN frameworks.
