About the Role

Enakl, a fast‑growing mobility startup headquartered in Casablanca, is transforming everyday urban travel through intelligent, collective transport solutions. The company’s mission is to make city travel safer, more accessible, and sustainable by leveraging cutting‑edge technology. As part of a small, international team, the Senior Backend Engineer will lead the technical strategy for Enakl’s core backend services, ensuring they scale to support thousands of daily users.

Key Responsibilities

• Ownership & Architecture: Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of the backend stack, making critical architecture decisions and setting coding standards.
• Multi‑Tenant SaaS Transition: Lead the migration to a multi‑tenant SaaS model, implementing robust tenant isolation, data segregation, and secure access controls (ACL, RBAC, ABAC).
• Refactoring & Performance: Continuously refactor legacy code, optimize SQL queries, and tune PostgreSQL for high throughput and low latency.
• Testing & Reliability: Design and enforce comprehensive unit and integration tests, and maintain high reliability through observability, logging, and diagnostics.
• Cloud & DevOps: Deploy and manage services on AWS, ensuring scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency.
• Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentor junior developers, produce clear documentation, and collaborate closely with product, design, and data teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS.
• Strong SQL and PostgreSQL expertise.
• Experience with multi‑tenant architectures and tenant isolation.
• Hands‑on knowledge of access control mechanisms (ACL, RBAC, ABAC).
• Solid testing practices (unit, integration, end‑to‑end).
• Familiarity with AWS services and cloud deployment.
• Performance tuning and query optimization skills.
• Experience with event‑driven or background job processing.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
