Senior Laboratory & Diagnostic Officer

About the role

The Senior Laboratory & Diagnostic Officer provides technical leadership for laboratory systems strengthening and diagnostics within the STRIDES Morocco Activity. Reporting to the Project Director, the role works closely with the Ministry of Health, government entities and in‑country partners to ensure alignment with national health priorities and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day implementation of laboratory‑related activities and monitor progress against the workplan.
• Engage with the Ministry of Health and regulatory bodies to align activities with national standards.
• Develop and support laboratory policies, quality management standards and improvement processes at national and sub‑national levels.
• Produce technical tools, guidelines, SOPs, training materials and reports to support laboratory and diagnostic systems.
• Identify gaps in laboratory capacity and design evidence‑based strategies to address them.
• Provide mentorship, on‑the‑job support and capacity‑building to national and sub‑national laboratory staff.
• Maintain project protocols, instruments, data sets, manuals and related documentation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in laboratory systems strengthening and diagnostics.
• Strong knowledge of national health priorities and global health security objectives.
• Proven ability to work with government ministries, partners and stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills for moderate to complex issues.
• Experience supervising junior technical staff or consultants.
