Senior Tech Lead – Backend Architecture & Engineering

About the role

WafR is a fast‑growing fintech building high‑throughput financial solutions that process 150k transactions daily. As a Senior Tech Lead you will be the technical anchor for the engineering team, balancing hands‑on coding with architectural design and mentoring.

Key responsibilities

• Design and scale secure, high‑performance microservices and APIs within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code while setting coding standards for the team.
• Oversee database migrations, implement CQRS patterns where appropriate, and optimise data flows across PostgreSQL.
• Conduct rigorous code reviews, mentor mid‑level and junior engineers, and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
• Drive CI/CD improvements, monitor system health, and proactively manage technical debt.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or architectural role, preferably in fintech or banking.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex technical trade‑offs to both engineering teams and non‑technical stakeholders.
