Substation Automation and Protection Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Substation Automation and Protection Engineer to lead engineering and field services for substation automation systems (DCS) and protection/control panels. The role involves end‑to‑end project ownership from site surveys through design, procurement, integration, testing and commissioning, ensuring reliable power‑system operation for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Engineer and commission Substation Automation Systems (DCS) and Remote Terminal Units (RTU).
• Design, build and test protection, control and tele‑protection panels.
• Manage full project lifecycle: site survey, engineering, material ordering, integration, FAT, site installation, testing, commissioning and as‑built documentation.
• Develop substation LAN and communication architectures, configure industrial Ethernet switches, routers and satellite clocks.
• Generate purchase requests, coordinate with project managers, customers, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Lead pre‑FAT internal validation, customer FAT, site supervision and troubleshooting.
• Support sales and tendering by analysing technical requirements and delivering customer training.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in Electrical, Automation or Communications engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering and commissioning of electrical substation protection and control panels.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with substation automation systems (IEC‑61850) and both conventional and digital control systems.
• Familiarity with Moroccan customer solutions and product specifications.

Required skills

• IEC‑61850, MODBUS, IEC 101/104, T103, SNMP communication protocols.
• Sequencing and interlocking principles for substation automation.
• IT/OT networking, industrial Ethernet configuration.
• CCNA certification or equivalent (preferred).
• Use of CAE tools for panel design and validation.
