Substation Automation and Protection Engineer

About the role

The Substation Automation and Protection Engineer will lead engineering and field services for substation automation systems (DCS, RTU) and protection/control panels. You will work closely with project management, telecom engineering, application, and after‑sales teams to deliver reliable power‑substation solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, engineer and commission Substation Automation Systems (IEC‑61850) and RTUs.
• Engineer, integrate and test protection, control and tele‑protection panels.
• Own full project lifecycle: site survey, design, material procurement, pre‑FAT validation, FAT with customer, site installation supervision, testing, commissioning, red‑mark‑up and as‑built documentation.
• Analyse customer specifications and propose cost‑effective solutions.
• Lead design of substation LAN networks, configure industrial Ethernet switches, routers and satellite clocks.
• Generate purchase requests, coordinate with integration facilities, and ensure timely project milestones.
• Support sales and tendering teams, participate in contract negotiations and deliver customer training.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in Electrical, Automation or Communications Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years experience in engineering and commissioning of substation protection and control panels.
• Minimum 3 years experience with substation automation systems (IEC‑61850) and both conventional and digital control systems.
• Knowledge of sequencing and interlocking principles, Morocco‑specific product specifications, and relevant communication protocols.
• Strong understanding of IT/OT networking; CCNA certification or equivalent preferred.
