Underwriting & Marketing Manager

About the role

The Manager – Underwriting & Marketing will be based on‑site in Casablanca, Morocco and will lead underwriting activities for Africa Re’s reinsurance business while driving marketing initiatives to grow the client base.

Key responsibilities

• Lead underwriting across assigned markets and lines of business, including risk assessment, pricing and portfolio management.
• Evaluate submissions, negotiate treaty and facultative terms and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines.
• Develop and execute marketing strategies to expand Africa Re’s client portfolio and strengthen relationships with cedants and brokers.
• Monitor market trends, prepare business development plans and contribute to budgeting and reporting.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support profitable growth and strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong underwriting expertise, preferably in reinsurance or related markets.
• Solid financial and analytical background for risk evaluation, pricing and portfolio analysis.
• Relevant university degree (Insurance, Finance, Business, Economics, Actuarial Science or related); professional certifications such as CII or CPCU are a plus.
• Proven experience in underwriting management and client‑facing roles, including marketing or business development.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑management skills; ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Fluency in English and French; additional African or MENA languages are an asset.
• High integrity, attention to detail and sound decision‑making under time constraints.
