Assistant Professor – Bio‑Chemical Process Design & Engineering

About the role

The successful candidate will lead the design, simulation, implementation and optimisation of chemical and biochemical processes at macro‑lab, pre‑pilot and pilot scales, bridging R&D and entrepreneurship within the SNG research group at UM6P.

Key responsibilities

• Lead chemical process design, simulation, implementation and optimisation across laboratory to pilot scale.
• Supervise graduate students, post‑doctoral fellows and technical staff, and prepare technical reports, manuscripts and invention disclosures.
• Collaborate with internal scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs and external partners to develop industrial processes and address Moroccan technology challenges.
• Manage the construction, commissioning and operation of pre‑pilot/pilot plants, ensuring safety, environmental compliance and budget adherence.

Required profile

• PhD in chemical engineering, materials engineering, mechanical engineering or related field with focus on process engineering, or an engineering degree with at least 5 years of R&D/process engineering experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary research projects and engaging with industry or entrepreneurial ecosystems.
• Proven ability to supervise students and post‑doctoral researchers.

Required skills

• Knowledge of bio/chemical process equipment (piping, pumps, reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, PLCs, PID controllers, etc.).
• Proficiency with process simulation software.
• Strong English communication (written and verbal) for reports, publications and presentations.
