Data Engineer – Big Data & Backend Development

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineer who thrives at the intersection of backend development and data engineering. You will join Leyton CognitX, the AI & Tech Advisory of Leyton, to design and implement data infrastructure that supports our AI‑driven solutions for clients across various industries.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, modeling, warehousing, and cleaning using big‑data technologies.
• Analyze source systems to define optimal data‑management strategies from collection to analysis.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate big‑data solutions with existing platforms.
• Optimize and maintain big‑data platforms for performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Develop and enforce data‑governance policies to ensure data quality and security.
• Create documentation for data architecture, processes, and workflows.
• Conduct performance tuning and troubleshoot data‑related issues.
• Produce data visualizations and reports to support business decision‑making.
• Lead and participate in code reviews to uphold best practices.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Software Development, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar data‑engineering role.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand complex data‑processing algorithms.
• Excellent listening, synthesis, and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, self‑organized, and able to work autonomously.
