Assistant Manager, Supply Chain Operations

About the role

The Assistant Manager, Supply Chain Operations ensures smooth importation, transportation, and delivery of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods across the MENA region. You will lead a small operational team, manage end‑to‑end shipments, and maintain strong relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and inspection companies.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise import/export activities, including customs clearance and sea freight bookings.
• Coordinate with supply planners, import clearing officers, finance, and external partners to guarantee on‑time stock availability.
• Manage shipments for IMS and third‑party suppliers, overseeing triangular invoicing and SAP transactions.
• Drive cost reduction through process mapping, Lean methodology, and total delivery cost (TDC) savings.
• Conduct monthly functional health checks and review General Shipping Instructions to mitigate risks.
• Maintain regular alignment with category planners, suppliers, and clusters to resolve exceptions (e.g., DOR, WOR, MOR, QOR).
• Monitor and close Inter‑Market Supply (IMS) claims within agreed lead times.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of solid experience in import/export or the shipping industry.
• University degree in Business Administration, International Procurement, or Materials Management.
• Understanding of best practices in inter‑market supply partnership and supply planning.
• Knowledge of international trade, banking instruments, customs law and regulations is a plus.
• Experience in business improvement projects and process optimisation.

Required skills

• Familiarity with shipping industry systems and carrier portals.
