Lower School Teaching Assistant

About the role

The Lower School Teaching Assistant supports teachers in creating a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment for elementary students. Working closely with faculty, the assistant helps ensure classroom procedures run smoothly and that students receive the guidance they need to succeed.

Key responsibilities

• Provide translation during parent meetings when required.
• Attend school events, meetings, and in‑house trainings.
• Maintain productive relationships with colleagues and respect confidentiality of student, parent, and staff information.
• Lead invitational groups set by the teacher and offer one‑to‑one student assistance.
• Substitute for the teacher when absent and assist with formative assessments.
• Contribute to a positive classroom culture, including setting up materials, boards, and classroom organization.
• Help students manage agendas, folders, and notebooks.
• Assist in lesson preparation, classroom transitions, dismissal, lunch, recess, and specialist classes.
• Support physical‑education sessions for grades N‑G2.
• Enforce classroom expectations, procedures, and routines.
• Assist with photocopying, inventory management, and organization of classroom resources.
• Maintain the classroom library and care for Chromebooks.

Required profile

• Local university degree or equivalent.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Computer skills preferred.
• Ability to pass extensive background checks and child‑safety screening.
• Flexibility to accommodate exceptions as determined by the Lower School Principal and Director.
