Tendering Engineer – Grid Automation

About the role

The Tendering Engineer (Lead Customer) manages the full bid process for Grid Automation, from analysing client requests to submitting proposals. The role covers substation automation, protection and control, packaged with Telecom and M&D systems, and focuses on interpreting customer needs, defining optimised technical solutions and ensuring alignment with standards and commercial objectives. The position is remote.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse customer needs and RFQs and propose products, services and solutions from the DS Agile / G500 / GPG / AAA portfolio, Cyber Security, MiCOM and Multilin ranges, including Telecom and M&D packaging where needed
• Prepare compliant offers, flag key risks and maintain a risk and opportunity register, and implement the Return of Experience (ROE)
• Complete site assessments for brownfield and existing substations and keep typical circuits, schemes and solutions updated in the tendering tool
• Manage the full bid process, including internal tender reviews, transfer meetings and handover to operations, and respond to technical clarifications
• Support order booking, budget margins and operations turnover, and support sales in commercial and technical meetings and negotiations
• Review and maintain the tender hit rate, review cost and price calculations, obtain formal quotes for third-party products and challenge costs in tenders
• Carry out commercial and technical win-loss analysis of bids

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent
• At least 3 years of experience in tendering, commercial or engineering functions
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 10-15% of the time
• Hybrid working comfort, proactive approach and good interpersonal skills

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Grid Automation business; protection and DCS/SCS knowledge required
• Plus: Telecom and M&D knowledge, MENAT customer requirements, commercial contracting guidelines, French and Arabic
