About the role
The STRIDES Morocco Epidemiology and Surveillance Officer will support the implementation of epidemiology and surveillance activities under the U.S. Department of State‑funded STRIDES Morocco program. Based in Rabat, the Officer will provide technical assistance to government partners to strengthen infectious disease detection and surveillance systems, aligning with national priorities and international best practices.
Key responsibilities
- Support day‑to‑day implementation of country epidemiology and surveillance activities, including emerging infectious diseases, zoonotic diseases, and antimicrobial resistance.
- Provide technical support to government counterparts on developing and strengthening detection and surveillance systems.
- Maintain project protocols, instruments, data sets, manuals, training materials, and reports.
- Conduct literature searches on evolving issues in epidemiology, infectious disease surveillance, and global health security.
- Assist in capacity‑building activities, including development and delivery of training materials.
- Develop and disseminate technical briefs, tools, reports, and other materials.
- Support cross‑sectoral surveillance strategy development and implementation for Morocco’s health security context.
- Prepare donor reports, annual workplans, and other technical deliverables.
- Participate in client/funder meetings and prepare presentations and reports.
- Gather data and statistics to support evidence‑based reporting.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries and flag issues to the Senior Officer.
Required profile
- Working knowledge of epidemiologic research and public health surveillance concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Familiarity with infectious disease detection systems, zoonotic disease surveillance, and antimicrobial resistance in the Moroccan and broader MENA context.
- Strong diagnostic, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data, identify errors, and prepare clear reports.
- Professional communication skills with clients and staff.
Required skills
- Working knowledge of epidemiologic research and public health surveillance.
