Flight Operations Engineer

About the role

As a Flight Operations Engineer at Harmattan AI you will act as the bridge between R&D and the operational field, delivering the final “last‑mile” validation of autonomous defense systems. You will demonstrate capabilities to global defense partners, train end‑users, and ensure mission‑ready deployment of complex UAV platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute real‑world test campaigns to validate performance, reliability and edge‑case behaviours of new hardware and software releases.
• Lead high‑stakes live flight demonstrations for defense stakeholders in diverse environments.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs covering flight theory, autonomous mission planning and emergency procedures.
• Collaborate with hardware, software and systems teams to debug, iterate and refine solutions based on test outcomes.
• Manage deployment and tactical logistics of autonomous systems, integrating command‑and‑control (C2) infrastructure and RF data links to achieve 100 % mission readiness.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of experience in flight operations, flight testing or validation on aerospace, robotic or embedded systems.
• Proven track record assembling, integrating and maintaining high‑performance FPV multicopters and/or fixed‑wing platforms.
• Strong background in flight dynamics, control systems, avionics and RF engineering.
• Pilot certification or experience with military/industrial drone platforms is a plus.
• Detail‑oriented with excellent documentation and organizational skills.
• Effective communicator able to simplify complex technical concepts for training and presentations.
• Willingness to travel internationally on a dynamic schedule.
